About Us
Melissa is based in Mesquite, Texas, and if there is an animal in trouble, she is probably already on her way. From trapping kittens along busy highways to wrestling pigs in the mud or rescuing puppies abandoned in the wilderness, helping animals is not a hobby for Melissa. It is simply who she is.
What started as showing up when people asked has grown into a full-time lifestyle of saving lives. Melissa has trapped, fixed, and released hundreds of feral cats. You may find her first in line at feral cat veterinary clinics at 4:00 a.m., making sure her trapped kitties get the care they deserve.
When animals are ready for adoption, Melissa partners with trusted organizations like East Lake Pet Orphanage and the SPCA to match cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies with safe, loving homes. Every placement is made with care, patience, and the belief that every animal deserves a second chance.
The need in Mesquite and the Dallas area continues to grow. Rescues are overflowing, and many people reach out to Melissa when they have nowhere else to turn. The calls keep coming, and so does Melissa.
Paws & Purrs Street Rescue is self-funded, but donations help stretch every rescue further. Contributions go directly toward feeding hungry strays and feral colonies, medical care, spay and neuter services, bottle-feeding supplies, flea prevention, and other lifesaving necessities.
If you believe in showing up for the ones who cannot ask for help, please consider donating today. Every dollar helps save another life.
